Kaihua has provided students with opportunities for practical operations, allowing them to train and improve themselves in real working environments. At the same time, a group of talented individuals with potential has been identified from among the students, whose arrival has injected fresh blood into Kaihua. From the initial cultivation of outstanding engineers in the field of material forming and control engineering to the current joint establishment of the Intelligent Manufacturing – Mould Industry College, the cooperation revolves around the job requirements of Kaihua, covering ten majors at DPU, adopting a customized “Kaihua Class” training model. Specific achievements of the cooperation include:1. School-enterprise cooperation guides students in their graduation design projects, participating in the China Machinery Industry Outstanding Engineer Education Alliance’s “Graduation Design” competition, winning seven national-level excellent works awards, one provincial second prize, and one provincial third prize. One graduate student received an excellent master’s thesis award at the university level.2. The ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Engineering Practice Education Center has been approved as an off-campus practice education base for college students in Liaoning Province. The ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Co., Ltd. Graduate Joint Training Base has been approved as a professional master’s degree graduate joint training base by DPU.3. In 2018, one third prize was won in the Liaoning Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards; in 2022, one second prize was won in the same awards; in 2023, one typical case was awarded in the “school-enterprise cooperation Dual Hundred Plan” by the China Higher Education Society.4. Students Wen Aiyuan and Yu Junwei were selected for the Kaihua First-Class Scholarship through a defense meeting.5. DPU has hired Lin Lianming and Ye Xinghui from Kaihua as enterprise supervisors for graduate students. They have cooperated in guiding graduate students to publish 13 academic papers, of which 9 have been published and 4 have been accepted.

In these nine years of cooperation, what we are most proud of are the students who have emerged from the school-enterprise cooperation projects. They share their stories of growth alongside Kaihua and DPU through their own voices. Their heartfelt words reveal their personal development and transformation.

As a mould flow engineer, Yu Junwei says, “I am from the Material Control 181 class at Dalian Polytechnic University. From internship to employment, this year marks my third year working as a mould flow analysis engineer at ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Co., Ltd. If I had to sum up my journey from graduation to now with one keyword, I would say ‘Achievement’—from being a beginner to taking charge of projects on my own this year, I feel I have truly achieved something. My main responsibility at Kaihua is to conduct mould flow analysis during the early stages of mould design. In my work, I get to engage with the cutting-edge of automotive design. For instance, when Xiaomi released the SU7, seeing its rear bumper gave me a sense of pride because I was responsible for the mould flow analysis of that part, and we were involved in the mould design for Xiaomi’s car. This year, I have started to participate in customer reviews, independently communicating with clients and internal project teams, and I am gradually learning how to manage the entire project. While school mainly teaches theoretical knowledge, the company expands your capabilities through practical operations. You can learn a lot at Kaihua that you wouldn’t learn in school, and it helps you clearly understand whether your chosen career aligns with your future career plans. If there is an opportunity for school-enterprise cooperation, I recommend giving it a try. Kaihua offers a broad platform where you can access all kinds of advanced technologies, which is why I chose to stay and continue developing here. I believe having such a platform is beneficial for students, as the company has genuine personnel needs and provides a direct channel for interns to transition to full-time employment if both parties find it suitable.Lastly, I want to tell the younger students at DPU: Learn how to interact with people, understand the art of communication, and learn how to communicate effectively. Expand your knowledge areas; for example, a couple of years ago, I was assigned a project from Japan, and the materials provided were entirely in Japanese. Thanks to my Japanese language foundation from my studies, I could understand the key information, so I ended up being responsible for the mould flow analysis of that project. Choose what you love, and once you choose, commit to it wholeheartedly!”

As a project engineer, Wen Ai Yuan says, “I am from the Human Resources 191 class at Dalian Polytechnic University. Currently, I work as a project engineer at Zhejiang Jingkai MOULD & Plastic Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Co., Ltd. From initially feeling quite clueless to now independently completing projects, I would summarize my two years since graduation with the keyword ‘Labor Rewarded.’ At Kaihua, I primarily handle project work for the Automotive Division, focusing on controlling the milestones of the entire project. I have successfully completed many projects on my own. Since I entered a different field, I lacked knowledge and background in the mould industry, which presented significant challenges during my transition from a student to a professional. However, I turned passivity into proactivity, researching relevant materials when encountering problems and consulting with company leaders and colleagues when necessary. They provided detailed answers and substantial support. Thanks to the school-enterprise cooperation, I had the opportunity to join Kaihua. Last year, I was also selected by the company to receive the first-class scholarship. The company treats us well, especially those who come to work in Taiwan from afar. Kaihua offers a broad platform with advanced technology and a complete career advancement pathway, along with a positive work environment where I can learn specialized knowledge in related fields. In the future, I plan to pursue the PMP certification to become more professional and better aligned with the company’s development. Similarly, I would like to advise future juniors at DPU: Reduce confusion and increase practice; you will gain more progress through action!”

KaiHua Team4

As a product engineer, Miao Lei says, “I am a mechanical engineering graduate student in the 22nd cohort at Dalian Polytechnic University. This year marks my second year working as a product engineer at Kaihua. From being an intern to now a soon-to-be graduate, I anticipate adapting to new roles as the company continues to grow. My primary responsibilities involve product design during the project phase and coordinating with clients on product standards. Given that I switched fields, I had limited knowledge about moulds. Over the past two years at Kaihua, I have gained a solid understanding through self-study and guidance from my superiors and colleagues. Now, I am beginning to take on some projects myself. The interaction between the university and the company is quite frequent. Through the school-enterprise cooperation, I secured an internship opportunity, which helped me acclimate to the workplace in advance and apply the knowledge I learned. Working at Kaihua for the past two years has significantly enhanced my professional skills. In the future, I hope to undertake more projects to improve my work capabilities and become a more mature product engineer. I aim to give my utmost effort to lay a solid foundation for my future career and life.”

As a product engineer, Li Sicheng says, “I am from the Polymer 201 class at Dalian Polytechnic University. I have been working at Kaihua for over a year now. As a product engineer in the Automotive Division, my main responsibilities involve helping clients analyze issues, providing technical support for production, and offering relevant solutions. Since graduating and joining the company, I have been continuously learning, hoping to improve myself and gain more industry knowledge through this platform. At school, we mostly learn theoretical knowledge, whereas at the company, I have the opportunity to grow through practical experience. During this process, I have developed quite rapidly. For instance, when a mould problem arises, we need to consider multiple aspects—both the actual production and client satisfaction. This involves going through several rounds of validation, thinking critically, and ultimately coming up with an effective solution. This process is challenging, but it has allowed me to grow quickly through each challenge.Initially, transitioning from a student to a professional was difficult for me. However, I promptly adjusted my mindset, moving away from the student role and embracing my new professional identity, which helped me address these issues effectively. My leaders and colleagues at the company have been very supportive, and our department is highly united, creating a great working atmosphere. I hope the company continues to thrive, securing more projects, which will allow me to encounter new things, broaden my horizons, and face greater challenges. I also encourage future juniors at DPU: When entering society, be sure to study hard and work diligently. Let’s all do our best!”
