The standard review meeting for the “Technical Specifications for Microcellular Plastic Injection Molds of Automotive Interior Parts,” led by ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Co., Ltd. and organized by the China Mold Industry Association, was successfully held at the Huangyan company headquarters on December 8, 2024. Participants in the review meeting included experts and representatives from the lead drafting organization: Ms. Qin Ke, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Mold Industry Association; Professor Liao Hongyi, Director of the Standardization Work Committee of the China Mold Industry Association and professor at Guilin University of Electronic Technology; Professor Lin Jianping from Tongji University; Professor Dong Binbin from Zhengzhou University; Chief Engineer Yang Jian and Researcher Weng Shizhen from the Standardization Committee of the China Mold Industry Association; Senior Engineer Feng Shuang; Daniel Liang, Chairman of Kaihua Moulds; Mr. Li Guo, Vice General Manager; and members of the project team.
The experts in attendance listened to the presentation by the standard drafting working group regarding the preparation of the “Technical Specifications for Microcellular Plastic Injection Molds of Automotive Interior Parts.” They reviewed the standard document and unanimously agreed that: the technical specifications outlined in this standard are advanced and reasonable, comprehensively reflecting the technological level of microcellular plastic injection molds for automotive interior parts within China.
This standard is based on the transformation of research outcomes from the 2017 Industrial Strengthening Foundation Project titled “Lightweight Forming Technology for Large Precision Automotive Components Using MuCell Molding.” It has been formulated to fully achieve the domestication of mucell plastic injection molds and to break through foreign patent restrictions. The main performance parameter indicators specified in this standard are fundamentally correct, reasonable, effective, and feasible, reaching international advanced levels.Through the formulation and implementation of this standard, it will aid in fostering technological innovation in mucell plastic injection molds within China, promoting the development of mucell technology towards intelligence, lightweight construction, and precision. This will lay a technical foundation for the rapid development of mucell plastic injection molds and their substitution for imports.
At the review meeting, Executive Vice President Qin Ke spoke on behalf of the China Mold Industry Association, emphasizing that the mold industry acts as a “multiplier of benefits” for manufacturing, serving as a foundational and high-tech industry. The most significant characteristic of this industry is its extensive industrial chain extension. As the responsible unit of the Standardization Committee of the Asian Mold Association, the China Mold Industry Association should strongly advocate for standards and certification and promote them across Asia.Qin Ke highlighted that Kaihua needs to accurately position its products within the entire industrial chain, make decisive and resolute decisions, and actively advance standardization. Consideration should be given to developing standards in areas such as trade, after-sales service, the industrial chain, and project management.
Chairman Daniel Liang of ZheJiang Kaihua Moulds Co., Ltd. stated that Kaihua will certainly integrate its product advantages and service strengths to excel in top-level design and to effectively develop Kaihua’s standards and standardization work. Additionally, Kaihua will actively cooperate with the China Mold Industry Association, contributing its share to the mold standards and standardization efforts in our country.
Prior to the commencement of the review meeting, Daniel Liang provided the experts with a detailed introduction to Kaihua’s main business segments, including automotive molds, medical molds, logistics molds, household and home appliance molds, and automotive lamp molds. He also outlined the group’s future prospects and plans. Daniel Liang then guided the team of experts on a tour of Kaihua Group’s sample room, digital workshop, intelligent manufacturing equipment, and automated production lines for mold processing. During the tour, he showcased Kaihua’s flagship products that represent the advanced design and manufacturing levels of today’s world, such as: • MuCell plastic injection molds for automotive dashboards, • Two-cavity automotive door panel gas-assisted plastic injection molds, • Large deep-draw thin-wall plastic bumpers for automobiles, • Large logistics plastic pallet injection molds.
