Culture Introduction:
The Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month of the lunar calendar every year. Because of the midsummer ascent, shunyang is on the top. May is midsummer, the day of good weather ascending, so it is called Dragon Boat Festival. Originating in China, the Dragon Boat Festival was a festival of totem sacrifices for tribes’ worshipping dragon totems, and the custom of holding tribal totem sacrifices in the form of dragon boat racing. Later, during the warring states period, Qu Yuan, the Chu patriotic poet, committed suicide by jumping on the Miluo river on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, and the rulers took the Dragon Boat Festival as a festival to commemorate Qu Yuan in order to establish the label of loyalty and patriotism.
In that day, people usually race dragon boats, drink male yellow, hang wormwood and calamus, eat rice dumplings, tie five-color silk thread, and wear a sachet to drive away the plague and disease.
